How to convert PDF to PNG

  1. Choose the PDF: Pick the PDF. If it has an open password, you’ll be asked for it.
  2. Keep PNG selected: PNG is already chosen. Pick the quality (72, 150 or 300 DPI) and, if you want, a page range like 1-3, 5.
  3. Download: One page downloads as a single PNG; several pages come as a ZIP.

Why PNG

PNG doesn't blur edges the way JPG does, so text, tables, charts and diagrams stay crisp. That makes it the better choice for slides, documentation and anything you'll zoom into. The files are bigger: for photos and scans, PDF to JPG is usually better.

Big documents

PNG at 300 DPI uses a lot of memory. On a phone, convert long PDFs in parts with the page range box (for example "1-10", then "11-20"). The tool warns you before a heavy conversion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own phone or computer, and the files never leave it. After the tool has loaded once, it also works without internet.

Which DPI should I choose?

150 DPI is right for most uses: sharp on a phone and fine to upload. Choose 300 DPI to print or to read small text, and 72 DPI for the smallest files.

Are the PNG pages transparent?

No. Pages come out with their white background, as they look in a PDF reader.

Why are the PNG files so large?

PNG keeps every pixel exactly. A full page at 300 DPI is about 2500 by 3500 pixels. Choose 150 DPI, or PDF to JPG, for smaller files.
