How to Convert PDF to Word

  1. Add the PDF: choose the file (up to 50 MB). If it has an open password, type it in; it is used only inside your browser.
  2. Wait a few seconds: the tool reads each page and rebuilds paragraphs, headings, bold and italic text, indents and page breaks.
  3. Download: open the .docx in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, WPS Office or LibreOffice and edit it. The result screen lists anything you should check.

Your PDF Never Leaves Your Device

  • No upload: the PDF is converted inside your browser tab and is never sent to a server. That matters for résumés, offer letters, bank letters and ID documents.
  • Free, no sign-up, no daily limit. Your original PDF is not changed.
  • Works offline after you have used the tool once.

What Converts Well, and What Doesn't

  • Works well: PDFs made on a computer or phone (saved or exported from Word, Google Docs, a website or an app), such as résumés, letters, notices, reports and essays. Text, paragraphs, headings, bold and italic text are kept.
  • Needs checking: two-column pages become one column (left, then right); tables become lines with tab-separated columns; spacing can differ a little from the PDF.
  • Not copied: pictures, logos, signatures, lines and boxes.
  • Scanned PDFs: a scan is a picture of a page, with no text inside. The tool tells you when a PDF is a scan instead of giving you an empty Word file.

For PDFs with complex tables or forms, desktop software does better: recent versions of Microsoft Word can open a PDF directly (File → Open) and convert it on your computer, and paid tools such as Adobe Acrobat keep tables as tables. This tool is the quick, free option that never uploads.

Hindi, Marathi and Other Indian Languages

PDFs typed in Unicode fonts (such as Mangal, Nirmala UI or Noto Sans Devanagari) convert like English ones. Many older government documents were typed in Kruti Dev, DevLys or Chanakya, which are not Unicode: the letters are stored as English letter codes and drawn as Hindi by that font. The tool spots this and keeps the font name, so the Word file shows Hindi on a computer that has that font installed. Elsewhere the text looks like random English letters (for example "vkSj" instead of "और").

Only need the words, not the layout? Copy the text from a PDF instead. Need to send the PDF to a portal with a size limit? Compress the PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to convert a PDF to Word here?

Yes. The PDF is converted inside your browser and is never uploaded or saved. After the tool has been used once, it also works offline.

Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?

Close, but not exactly. Paragraphs, headings, bold and italic text, font names, indents and page size are kept. Two-column pages become one column, tables become tab-separated lines, and pictures and logos are not copied. Check the file before you send it.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Not yet. A scanned PDF is a picture of each page, with no text inside. The tool tells you when a PDF is a scan instead of giving you an empty Word file.

Why does my Hindi PDF turn into random English letters?

The PDF was probably typed in an old Hindi font such as Kruti Dev or DevLys. Those fonts store Hindi as English letter codes. The Word file keeps the font name, so it shows Hindi on a computer with that font installed; the tool tells you when this happens.

Is there a size or daily limit?

Files up to 50 MB, with no daily limit. Very long PDFs need enough free memory on your device; if one fails, split it and convert the parts.

Can I open the Word file on my phone?

Yes. The .docx opens in the Microsoft Word, Google Docs and WPS Office apps on Android and iPhone.
