Pi7 and CompressKaro both met the 200 KB limit in our test (Pi7 186.54 KB, CompressKaro 180.5 KB), both let you type the exact size, and we saw no upload from either. The difference is the page: Pi7 loaded 2.2 MB of JavaScript and 18 ad-tech hosts on a phone before a file was chosen; CompressKaro loaded 242 KB and none.

Where Pi7 PDF / Image Tool is better

  • Hits the target too, and tells you before compressing what size keeps images sharp ("Recommended for this PDF: 582 KB") and the smallest size that keeps text readable. CompressKaro does not show this yet.
  • Exact KB field, like CompressKaro.

Where CompressKaro is better

  • Much lighter page: about a ninth of the JavaScript and no ad-tech, which matters on slow mobile data.
  • Exam and portal kits with official photo, signature and document specs, and a pass/fail check against the limit.
  • Hindi and five other Indian languages; password-protected PDFs (e-Aadhaar) supported.

Which should you use?

Both get the job done. Pick CompressKaro on a slow connection or for exam forms with several files; Pi7's size guidance is useful if you are unsure what target to choose.

How we tested

On 17 October 2026 we ran each tool in Chrome with the same synthetic 2.04 MB scanned PDF, measured the file each one produced for a 200 KB limit, and logged every network request that could carry the file. Numbers can differ with other files. Full method and its limits: how we test. Results for all tools: compare PDF compressors.
