The e-Aadhaar password is the first four letters of your name, in capitals, followed by your year of birth. For SURESH KUMAR born in 1990 it is SURE1990. To compress the locked PDF, open it in CompressKaro's Aadhaar compressor and enter the password when asked: it is used only in your browser, and the compressed copy has no password.
The format, with UIDAI's examples
| Name on Aadhaar | Year of birth | Password |
|---|---|---|
| SURESH KUMAR | 1990 | SURE1990 |
| SAI KUMAR | 1990 | SAIK1990 (spaces are skipped) |
| P. KUMAR | 1990 | P.KU1990 (the dot counts) |
| RIA | 1990 | RIA1990 (short name: all letters) |

Compressing the locked e-Aadhaar
- Open the Aadhaar compressor and choose the downloaded e-Aadhaar PDF.
- Press Compress. When it asks, type the password. A hint with the format is shown under the box.
- Pick the portal's limit and download. The file is compressed on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Two things to know
- The compressed copy is not password-protected, so most portals can open it. Store it carefully and delete it when done.
- The digital signature will no longer validate. UIDAI signs the e-Aadhaar; any compressor rewrites the PDF, which breaks that signature. For portals that just need a readable copy this doesn't matter. If a portal or office asks for the digitally signed e-Aadhaar, give them the original download.
